Center for Aging Studies

The Center for Aging Studies (CAS) is the hub for faculty, staff, and student research on the socio-cultural and applied dimensions of aging. CAS strives to enhance the well-being of older adults by working collaboratively with consumers, care providers, policymakers, and medical professionals to disseminate research findings. More than 20 multi-year studies totaling more than $20 million in funding have been conducted since 1997.

The Center incorporates a mentorship model providing opportunities for students to work with faculty and staff on research projects. Working in conjunction with the UMBC/UMB Doctoral Program in Gerontology, CAS attracts graduate students and researchers who are committed to furthering a comprehensive approach to the study of aging incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. CAS resides in a suite of secure offices located in the lower level of the Public Policy Building.
